Meet like minded people in an informal country house style atmosphere on our themed breaks

Week One 3- 4 day art appreciation
with painter Peter Corbett

We are very fortunate in having Peter Corbett as our art director and presenter. See our web site for more details of Peter’s biography and paintings.

This break is focused around informal presentations such as 20th. century influences, for example Kandinsky, Leger, perhaps old master drawings and paintings, great art patrons such as Peggy Guggenheim and their role in art development, Staithes school artists such as Laura Knight.

Usually all 3 day – Friday to Monday or 4 day – Monday to Friday
breaks revolve around 9.30 – 11.00 am informal presentations and after free time for those wish to go off and explore on their own or remain to paint or draw with Peter. Guests will leave with a finished painting.

Week Two 3 – 4 day garden appreciation with
William Kidd and guest speakers

How and why the pendulum gardens were designed and created at Seaton Hall. Art and gardening a discussion and brief outline, the art installations in the grounds.

Natural habitat and wildlife walks around the woodlands and
orchards, tree planting and care.

Friday to Monday Saturday, Sunday talks 9.30 -11.00, and
Monday to Friday. Talks at 9.30 - 11.00 Tuesday,Wednesday and
Thursday.

After the morning presentations there is either fee time or
excursions to famous gardens in or near the area such as
Scampston Walled Garden, Castle Howard. Duncombe Park and
others. Subject to weather, opening days and hours.

Admission is not included as members maybe members of Historic Houses Association, Royal Horticultural Society, or National Trust.

Week Three 3 – 4 day property investment and renovation with William Kidd and guest speakers

Property investment and renovation – a local development and investment company opens its doors – see property in action, discuss investment strategies, surviving a downturn, planning a retirement, your own residence as a tax free investment vehicle, niche markets, see how a small but experienced developer overcomes problems sources and buys properties, renovates and sells or lets them.

Property renovations, how to survey and estimate for property repairs and costs. Some planning and regulatory issues. Borrowing money, how and where, minimising inheritance tax,. Guest speakers supplement this invaluable course for those wishing to consider this investment strategy.

You will leave with a greatly increased knowledge of the property business with a developing strategy and business plan. Support beyond the course is available subject to availability and charges.
